The treatment is purely based on identifying and removing the underlying causes of illness, rather than merely eliminating or suppressing symptoms.

3) Do no harm!

Three points are kept are considered to avoid harming the person:

  • Methods and natural medicinal substances are used to minimize the risk of harmful side effects.
  • The suppression of symptoms is avoided, wherever possible.
  • Each and every individual’s healing process is acknowledged and respected. The least necessary force is used to diagnose and treat illness.

4) Doctor as a Teacher

Patients are educated, encouraged and a feeling of self-responsibility regarding their own health is developed. They also acknowledge the therapeutic value inherent in the doctor-patient relationship.

5) Treat the individual fully

A patients’ physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social and other factors are taken into account. Since total health also includes spiritual health as well as physical health, naturopathic therapists encourage individuals to pursue their personal spiritual path.
